Copper wire is the most popular form of rolled copper. It has a high
ductility, electrical conductivity, fracture toughness and
corrosion resistance. These characteristics make copper wire has
been widely used in the power industry,
automotive,telecommunications, electrical and power engineering,
construction and printing field. Copper wire has been successfully
used in the manufacture of wires, spring wire, cables, windings,
power units, coils, wires, spark plugs and pins and fusible safety
devices, as well as products for construction purposes: copper
nails, rivets, lightning protection devices. It also can be used
for weaving copper mesh, cable, copper brushes and filters. In
addition, the wire can be found in the connected equipment,
generators, refrigeration systems, and measuring instruments.
Copper wire has several varieties, which are determined by its shape, chemical
components, surface treatment, physical and mechanical properties.
Copper wire comes in two types: solid copper (MT) and soft copper
(MM). The cross section can be round or rectangular shape. Its
nominal diameter is in the range of 0.1 to 10.5 mm.
